 A Store Full of Food
by Anastasis, George & Phedre

Vegetables, fruit, poultry and meat,
Bread and cake and lots to eat,
Carrots, lettuce and big tomatoes,
Onions, garlic and small potatoes,
Pork chops, steaks, chicken and mince,
Cans of tuna, ham and beans,
Strawberries, blueberries and all the berries,
Apples, melons and juicy cherries,
Chocolates, croissants and maybe pancakes,
Muffins, doughnuts and also cupcakes…
A man walked in to take just one
And now the store is left with none.

 A Store Full of Food
by Dora, Maria, Panos & Spyros

Cakes and pancakes,
Yoghurts and doughnuts,
Fish and chips,
Strawberries and raspberries,
Potatoes and tomatoes,
And a parrot with a carrot, dogs, and frogs,
Nuts and coconuts...
Finally, we ate all of these
And we ended up in the toilet for three days.

A Store Full of Food
by Angel, Bill & Efthimis

Apples, pineapples and tomatoes
are tasty with potatoes.
Chips and cheese
are interesting with mince.
Pork chops, berries,
Bananas and strawberries,
Lettuce, carrots and melons
Are great with watermelons...
But remember: It’s one apple a day
that keeps the doctor away!

A Store Full of Food
by Kostas, Manos & Voula

We’ll go to Havana to eat a banana,
Party food with meat and poultry,
Fruit and healthy vegetables,
Steaks with tomatoes and sweet potatoes,
Muffins, cakes and crisps,
Chocolate, cookies and sweets,
Gyros, bread, souvlaki,
Toasted sandwiches with cheese...
But, I still can’t find the one I really need.

A Store Full of Food
by Panos, Simos & Thanos

Bread, ice cream, milk,
Bananas, gyros, meat,
Strawberries, jam, apples,
Eggs, honey, pineapples,
Chocolate, biscuits, cakes,
Sugar, chips, cupcakes,
Chicken, cider, tomatoes,
Water, lemon, potatoes…
I want to get inside the store
But, unfortunately it's closed.

A Store Full of Food

Apples, melons and blueberries,
Carrots, lettuce and potatoes,
Lemons, onions and tomatoes,

Well, she blew up
Faster than you can clap.

PART II

👉 Learners were inspired by Shel Silverstein's poem "Fear" and wrote their own alternative versions. Here is a sample of their poems. Enjoy reading!!!

Fear
by Anthi, Joanne & Lydia.

Renesmee Cullen
Was scared of heights,
So she never would go climbing
Or get into an airplane
Or use a ladder
Or cross a bridge.
She just sat day and night
With her feet glued to the floor tight
And the windows nailed down,
Shaking with fear.
But one day the whole flat fell
With her falling to her death,
Tragedy by her own fear.

Fear
by Helen, Paschalina & Theodora

Aimilios
Was scared of the dark
So he never would go out at night,
Or get into a cave,
Or cross a tunnel,
Or turn off the lights.
He just sat every night,
With his door locked tight,
And the lights turned on,
Shaking with fear
That the darkness might appear,
And one night as he was watching TV,
The lights went out
And he was left in the dark.

Fear
by Alexandra, Marina & Paraskevi

Obelix
Was scared of cockroaches,
So he never would go down a gutter,
Or get into the bathroom,
Or cross the kitchen.
He just sat day and night,
In his bedroom with his door locked tight,
And the windows nailed down,
Shaking with fear
That a cockroach might appear,
And one night as he was sleeping,
Suddenly, he woke up
And saw a cockroach on his bed
Looking at him.

Fear
by Katerina, Mary & Mary

Johny
Was scared of heights,
So he never would get in a fun park wheel,
Or get into an airplane,
Or stay in a skyscraper,
Or use a ladder.
He just sat day and night,
With his door locked tight,
And the windows nailed down,
Shaking with fear,
But, one day as he was cleaning the windows,
He slipped and broke his leg.

Fear
by Anastasis, George & Phedre

Alice
Was scared of heights,
So she never would visit a tower,
Or get into a cable car,
Or take a plane,
Or cross a bridge.
She just sat day and night,
With her door locked tight,
And the the windows nailed down,
Full of fear
That a tornado might appear,
And she tried to lock up the chimney
So she fell off the roof.
